Current medical student compares the best MCAT chemistry Anki decks for Gen Chem and Orgo, including AnKing, MileDown, JackSparrow, Reddit and SDN insights.

If you are looking for the best MCAT Anki deck for chemistry, I would choose AnKing for most students starting their MCAT preparation today, especially if you want one deck that can cover General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and the rest of your science content without constantly switching resources. The current AnKing MCAT deck builds on MileDown and other established decks, separates General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry within its organization, connects cards with resources such as Kaplan and Khan Academy, and continues to receive community corrections through AnkiHub.

That does not mean AnKing is automatically the right chemistry deck for everyone. MileDown is still one of my favorite options when you already understand chemistry and mainly need efficient reinforcement, while JackSparrow makes more sense when General Chemistry or Organic Chemistry is a genuine content weakness and short cloze cards are not forcing you to explain enough from memory. Aidan V2 becomes interesting if you have a very long timeline and want much broader coverage, while Captain Hook and Coffin V2 occupy useful middle positions for students who want more than the original MileDown deck without committing to the largest decks available.

I have some personal experience behind that recommendation rather than simply comparing download pages. MileDown was the primary Anki deck I used while preparing for the MCAT, and I also used portions of JackSparrow. Chemistry was actually one of the weaker areas on my diagnostic, so I was not approaching Chem/Phys as someone who could already solve almost everything and only needed a few flashcards to keep formulas fresh. My broader MCAT study process and how I used both decks are in my complete MCAT guide.

If you are still deciding on a deck for the entire exam rather than chemistry alone, I would first read my Best MCAT Anki Decks Compared guide. This article is intentionally narrower because chemistry creates several problems that a generic deck comparison cannot answer well: memorizing equations is different from understanding equilibrium, remembering functional groups is different from interpreting an unfamiliar organic molecule, and knowing a reaction from a flashcard is different from determining what happens when the AAMC changes the context.

What Is the Best MCAT Anki Deck for Chemistry?

For most students beginning today, AnKing is my overall choice for MCAT chemistry because it provides a good balance between coverage, organization, maintainability, and review efficiency. The official AnkiHub documentation says the current deck is built from MileDown, Abdullah, Coffin, and Mr. Pankow material, and its tagging connects cards with Kaplan, Khan Academy, UWorld, and AAMC concepts. The current structure also separates General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry rather than forcing you to search through one enormous science deck.

I would not interpret “best” as meaning that you should abandon a different deck that is already working. If you have completed hundreds of MileDown chemistry cards, are doing well on practice questions, and can recognize why you miss the questions you still get wrong, switching to AnKing simply because another student calls it more comprehensive may create duplication without producing much improvement.

Your chemistry foundation matters more than the name printed on the deck. Someone who understands acid-base chemistry, electrochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, functional groups, stereochemistry, and laboratory techniques but occasionally forgets details needs a very different Anki system from someone trying to relearn General Chemistry after not seeing it for three years.

How Much Chemistry Is Actually on the MCAT?

Chemistry deserves substantial attention because it accounts for a large portion of the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section. According to the AAMC’s current Chemical and Physical Foundations section overview, approximately 30% of the section comes from General Chemistry and another 15% comes from Organic Chemistry. The remaining approximate distribution is 25% introductory physics, 25% first-semester biochemistry, and 5% introductory biology.

Taken together, General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry therefore represent approximately 45% of C/P. On a 59-question section, that would correspond to roughly 27 chemistry questions if an individual exam followed those percentages exactly, but the AAMC explicitly says the proportions are approximate and vary among test forms. I would use the percentages to guide your study priorities rather than expecting exactly 18 General Chemistry questions and nine Organic Chemistry questions on test day.

The AAMC also describes C/P as a section that requires you to combine chemical and physical knowledge with scientific inquiry and reasoning, rather than merely retrieve isolated facts. That is why chemistry is one of the clearest examples of where Anki can improve your preparation without being able to replace the rest of your preparation.

Why Chemistry Requires a Different Anki Strategy Than Biology or Psych/Soc

Chemistry contains material that is excellent for spaced repetition. Functional groups, equations, periodic trends, solubility rules, oxidation states, laboratory techniques, acid-base relationships, electrochemical conventions, stereochemistry terminology, and common reaction patterns can all benefit from seeing the information repeatedly until retrieval becomes automatic.

The difficulty is that many chemistry questions ask you to do something with that information. You may need to determine which equation applies, manipulate an expression, estimate a logarithm, recognize an experimental setup, infer what will happen when equilibrium is disturbed, distinguish a nucleophile from an electrophile in an unfamiliar molecule, or reason through data presented in a passage.

I would therefore judge a chemistry Anki deck partly by what it allows you to stop thinking about. If Anki makes pKa relationships, equations, units, functional groups, periodic trends, and reaction vocabulary almost automatic, you preserve more mental bandwidth for interpreting what the question is actually asking.

That is different from expecting flashcards to solve chemistry questions for you. A deck should make the building blocks easier to retrieve so that you can devote more attention to application.

Is AnKing Good for MCAT Chemistry?

Yes. If I were beginning MCAT preparation again today and wanted one modern deck for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, I would probably start with AnKing.

The official AnKing MCAT documentation says the current deck originated with MileDown and incorporated updates from Abdullah and Coffin, while Mr. Pankow was incorporated for behavioral science. Nearly every card has also been tagged around resources including Kaplan and Khan Academy, which makes it much easier to complete a chemistry chapter and then activate only the relevant cards.

The deck is also actively maintained rather than existing as a static file from several years ago. AnkiHub’s update history showed continuing MCAT deck updates during 2026, including another AnKing MCAT update posted in August 2026. That matters in chemistry because community-created cards occasionally contain incorrect equations, mislabeled structures, or oversimplified explanations, and a system capable of receiving corrections has an advantage over a file that nobody maintains anymore.

My complete guide to the current version is here: Latest AnKing MCAT Deck Through AnkiHub. I would especially consider it if you are using Kaplan, Khan Academy, or UWorld and want your cards connected to the same chemistry topics you are learning elsewhere.

Is MileDown Good for MCAT Chemistry?

MileDown is still very good for MCAT chemistry, particularly when you already possess a reasonable foundation and want something that does not consume hours of every study day. Its approximately 2,900 cards are separated into subjects including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics/Math, Biochemistry, and Essential Equations, so you can review chemistry without turning every Anki session into an enormous mixed deck.

MileDown was my primary deck when I studied for the MCAT, and its manageability was one of the things I liked most about it. Chemistry was one of my weaker subjects early in my preparation, but I still did not want my solution to every weakness to be downloading thousands of additional cards. I needed enough reinforcement to remember what I was learning while leaving substantial time for UWorld, passages, full-length exams, and reviewing why I missed questions.

You can read my complete MileDown MCAT Anki Deck guide if you want to see how the deck is organized and how I would use it today. For chemistry in particular, I think MileDown works best when your problem sounds like, “I learned this before, but I keep forgetting it,” rather than, “I have no idea why this chemical relationship works.”

Is MileDown Enough for MCAT Chem/Phys?

For many students, yes, especially when “enough” means enough Anki rather than enough total MCAT preparation. One chemistry-specific r/MCAT discussion asked whether JackSparrow or MileDown was better specifically for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, and one response said MileDown was sufficient for C/P while another emphasized that question-bank practice mattered more for the section.

I would not treat two Reddit comments as evidence that MileDown guarantees adequate content coverage. I do think the reasoning behind those responses is useful, though, because C/P contains many questions where better application practice produces more benefit than another several hundred flashcards.

If you finish MileDown’s chemistry cards and still repeatedly encounter concepts in UWorld or AAMC material that you genuinely do not know, you have identified a reason to add cards or move into a deeper resource. If most of your misses come from choosing the wrong relationship, misreading the passage, making arithmetic mistakes, or applying familiar content incorrectly, changing decks probably will not fix the underlying problem.

Is JackSparrow Good for MCAT Chemistry?

JackSparrow becomes much more attractive when chemistry is one of your weakest areas and you dislike how much information a cloze card can give away. Instead of seeing a sentence with one missing phrase, you are more often asked to retrieve and explain a larger concept.

That additional retrieval was something I appreciated when I tried JackSparrow, but it was also why the deck became substantially more demanding than MileDown for me. A longer card may expose whether you really understand equilibrium, electrochemistry, or reaction chemistry, but answering hundreds of those cards can consume enough time that you begin sacrificing practice questions.

My complete JackSparrow MCAT Anki Deck guide covers the current 6,301-card version I reviewed. The science content is organized around Kaplan-style sections, which can make the deck particularly convenient if you want to read a chemistry chapter and then reinforce the same material through deeper free recall.

I would seriously consider JackSparrow for a student who tells me, “I can recognize the answer when I see it on a MileDown card, but I cannot explain the concept without the sentence around it.” I would be much less eager to start JackSparrow from zero a few weeks before test day.

What Is the Best MCAT Anki Deck for General Chemistry?

For General Chemistry specifically, I would choose AnKing for most students, MileDown for efficient review, and JackSparrow when the underlying concepts are weak. General Chemistry contains enough equations and relationships that a deck needs to do more than teach terminology, but much of the information still responds very well to spaced repetition.

Topics such as acids and bases, buffers, equilibrium, thermodynamics, kinetics, electrochemistry, gases, solutions, atomic structure, periodic behavior, intermolecular forces, stoichiometry, and oxidation-reduction relationships all contain pieces of information worth committing to memory. The AAMC’s C/P framework places substantial emphasis on chemical interactions and reactions within biological systems, so knowing these relationships well makes passage application easier.

If General Chemistry was the problem that drove you to search for this article, I would resist the urge to immediately choose the largest deck. Start by asking whether your mistakes are primarily knowledge errors or application errors. A deeper deck helps the former much more than the latter.

What Is the Best MCAT Anki Deck for Organic Chemistry?

Organic Chemistry is where I think card design becomes especially important. You need to recognize functional groups, stereochemical relationships, common reaction types, laboratory techniques, separation methods, nucleophile/electrophile behavior, oxidation and reduction, and the general chemical behavior of important molecules.

For most students, AnKing or MileDown can provide enough spaced-repetition support when combined with actual Organic Chemistry review and questions. If you have forgotten most of your college Orgo course, JackSparrow or selected Aidan cards may provide more context than a very condensed cloze deck.

A Reddit discussion specifically asking about premade decks for Organic Chemistry functional groups included students recommending MileDown, but the more interesting advice was to personalize cards around structures and mistakes from practice. One commenter who described a very strong Organic Chemistry background said MileDown’s Orgo section was useful but recommended making targeted cards from missed problems rather than trying to memorize everything indiscriminately.

I agree with that approach. Organic Chemistry becomes much easier to review when your deck gradually reflects the structures, reaction relationships, and laboratory concepts that you keep missing.

What Is the Best MCAT Anki Deck for Chemistry Equations?

If equations are your main weakness, I would not switch an otherwise successful comprehensive deck just to see the same chemistry formulas more often. I would keep AnKing or MileDown and create a filtered group of equation cards, use the Essential Equations portion of MileDown, or add your own concise cards for formulas that repeatedly disappear from memory.

AspiringMD also has a free MCAT equation and formula sheet that can work well alongside Anki. I like combining an equation sheet with spaced repetition because the sheet shows you the relationships together while Anki forces you to retrieve them without looking.

For chemistry equations, I would not stop at reproducing symbols. Know what every variable represents, the units associated with the quantities, how the variables relate proportionally, and what conditions make the equation useful.

A formula remembered without context can still leave you stuck on the exam. A formula you understand well enough to recognize from units, rearrange quickly, and connect with a chemical relationship is far more useful.

Is Anki Good for Learning Acid-Base Chemistry?

Yes, especially for the parts of acid-base chemistry that students repeatedly forget. Definitions of acids and bases, conjugate pairs, relationships among Ka, Kb, pKa, pKb, pH, pOH, buffers, and common trends can all benefit from spaced repetition.

The AAMC specifically identifies acid-base equilibria, weak and strong acids and bases, conjugate acid-base relationships, equilibrium constants, buffers, and titration-related ideas within its chemistry framework.

What I would not do is memorize twenty disconnected acid-base facts without solving problems. You want the cards to make the relationships familiar enough that, when a passage gives you a buffer or titration scenario, you can immediately think about which relationship governs it.

Is Anki Good for Organic Chemistry Reactions?

Anki can be excellent for learning the recurring patterns behind Organic Chemistry reactions, but I would build cards around recognition and prediction rather than trying to memorize an entire undergraduate reaction encyclopedia. The MCAT rewards being comfortable with common functional groups, chemical behavior, reaction patterns, and experimental contexts more than reproducing every named reaction you learned in a semester-long Orgo course.

For a reaction card, I like being able to identify what changed, which functional group was created or removed, whether oxidation or reduction occurred, what the nucleophile and electrophile are when relevant, and which broad reaction category applies. Image-based cards can also be particularly useful here because Organic Chemistry is so visual.

If you routinely recognize a reaction on an Anki card but cannot reason through a new molecule, do more practice instead of adding more reaction cards. Recognition is only helpful when it transfers to unfamiliar structures.

AnKing vs. MileDown for MCAT Chemistry

If you are starting today, I lean toward AnKing. If you already have substantial progress in MileDown, I would usually stay with MileDown unless your question-bank results reveal a reason to change.

AnKing is built substantially on the MileDown foundation, so these are not completely independent approaches. AnKing’s main chemistry advantages are its current tagging system, active maintenance, separate General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry organization, integration with common resources, and continuing corrections through AnkiHub.

MileDown’s advantage is simplicity. You can download it, activate the chemistry section, and begin studying without spending much time deciding which of several tag systems you are supposed to use.

I would rather have you spend an extra hour solving equilibrium and electrochemistry questions than spend that hour migrating from a functioning MileDown collection into AnKing because somebody online told you the newer deck was automatically superior.

MileDown vs. JackSparrow for MCAT Chemistry

MileDown versus JackSparrow is a more meaningful difference because the cards ask different things from you. MileDown usually gives you compact cloze prompts that can be answered quickly, whereas JackSparrow often requires substantially broader retrieval.

If chemistry is reasonably familiar and your goal is reinforcement, I like MileDown. If chemistry feels foreign and you repeatedly mistake recognition for understanding, JackSparrow may expose those weaknesses more effectively.

The tradeoff is time. JackSparrow does not become more useful simply because it contains more information if completing it leaves you too exhausted to do C/P passages afterward.

This is one reason I personally gravitated more toward MileDown during my MCAT preparation even though I appreciated JackSparrow’s depth. I wanted Anki to support my studying rather than consume the entire study day.

Is Aidan V2 Good for MCAT Chemistry?

Aidan V2 is one of the strongest options if your priority is maximum chemistry content coverage and you have enough time to manage a very large deck. The 2026 revision contains 12,016 cards across the major MCAT subjects and deliberately retains more detail than MileDown or AnKing.

That depth can be attractive when chemistry is weak because you are less likely to encounter a small concept that the deck never mentions. The downside is the same reason I would not recommend Aidan indiscriminately: those additional cards have to be learned, reviewed, and maintained while you are also supposed to be answering questions and taking full-length exams.

My full Aidan V2 MCAT Anki Deck guide explains the 2026 update and how it compares with MileDown, AnKing, JackSparrow, and other large decks. For chemistry, I would reserve Aidan for students who deliberately want that level of coverage rather than students who are simply anxious that a smaller deck might miss something.

Is Captain Hook Good for MCAT Chemistry?

Captain Hook is worth considering if JackSparrow’s underlying approach appeals to you but its longer cards feel cumbersome. The deck builds substantially from JackSparrow-derived material while attempting to make the experience cleaner and easier to work through.

That middle-ground position can make sense for chemistry. You may want more explanation than MileDown provides without wanting every General Chemistry concept to turn into a paragraph-length recall exercise.

I would browse some actual chemistry cards before committing because your response to the card style matters enormously. A theoretically comprehensive deck does not help if you dislike using it enough that you stop doing your reviews after three weeks.

You can read my Captain Hook MCAT Anki Deck guide if that sounds closer to what you are looking for.

Is Coffin V2 Good for MCAT Chemistry?

Coffin V2 is another interesting option for students who like MileDown’s concise card style but want stronger organization and somewhat broader coverage. It preserves much of the MileDown foundation while adding content and organizing cards into smaller groups that can be coordinated with content review.

The deck includes General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, equations, and the other major MCAT subjects. It is particularly attractive if you like Khan Academy because much of its organization was designed around related Khan Academy MCAT sections.

I would compare Coffin with AnKing before committing, though, because the current AnKing deck itself incorporates Coffin-derived material. Using both complete decks would create substantial overlap rather than twice the chemistry coverage.

My full Coffin V2 MCAT Anki Deck guide explains that relationship in more detail.

Do You Need a Separate General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Anki Deck?

Usually not. AnKing, MileDown, JackSparrow, Aidan, Captain Hook, and Coffin already include both areas, which means most students can keep one primary MCAT deck and activate the corresponding chemistry sections.

Separate decks make sense when they solve a specific problem. If you cannot recognize functional groups, a small visual Organic Chemistry deck may be useful. If equations are disappearing from memory, a focused equation collection may help. If laboratory techniques are the problem, a small targeted deck can reinforce those without adding thousands of unrelated cards.

The mistake is adding another comprehensive deck because you missed three chemistry questions. Diagnose the weakness before changing the resource.

Can You Learn MCAT Chemistry With Anki Alone?

I would not recommend it, especially if chemistry is already a weak subject. A flashcard is excellent at asking whether you remember something, but it is much less capable of teaching an interconnected topic from the beginning.

The AAMC explicitly describes C/P as requiring students to solve problems by combining chemistry and physics knowledge with scientific inquiry and reasoning. The section contains both passage-based and discrete questions, so your preparation needs to go beyond remembering isolated formulas or reaction facts.

If you have forgotten equilibrium, for example, begin by understanding what equilibrium represents and how the relevant relationships fit together. Then use Anki to preserve that knowledge, and finally use problems to learn how the AAMC disguises the same principles inside experiments and passages.

That sequence, understand, retain, apply, is how I would approach almost every chemistry topic.

Should You Make Your Own MCAT Chemistry Anki Cards?

Yes, but I would not rebuild the entire chemistry curriculum from scratch when strong premade decks already exist. The cards with the highest personal value often emerge after you begin doing questions.

Imagine you repeatedly confuse galvanic and electrolytic cells, forget which electrode has which sign under a particular condition, reverse a periodic trend, misidentify an extraction layer, or use Henderson-Hasselbalch incorrectly. Those are much more valuable cards for you than another hundred generic cards covering concepts you already know.

A Princeton Health Professions Advising MCAT guide summarizes advice from its examinee panels in a similar way: students suggest supplementing premade decks with personal flashcards based on questions they miss.

I also prefer turning the underlying lesson from a missed question into a card rather than copying the entire question. Your goal is to learn a transferable chemistry concept, not memorize the wording of one passage.

How I Would Use Anki to Study MCAT Chemistry

If I were restarting my MCAT preparation today, I would first choose one comprehensive deck. I would probably use AnKing now, although I would still consider MileDown if I wanted a lighter workload and knew that I could keep myself disciplined about adding cards from mistakes.

I would keep nearly everything suspended at the beginning. After completing a General Chemistry or Organic Chemistry topic through Kaplan, Khan Academy, or another structured content resource, I would activate the corresponding cards rather than exposing myself to hundreds of chemical concepts before I had reviewed them.

Practice would begin much earlier than many students expect. Once I had reviewed acids and bases, for example, I would not wait until all of chemistry was finished before answering acid-base questions. Practice would show me whether my problem was remembering the equation, understanding the chemistry, interpreting the passage, or completing the calculation.

That diagnosis would then determine what happened in Anki. A genuine memory problem becomes a card. A poorly worded existing card gets edited. A reasoning mistake stays in my error log and gets practiced rather than automatically becoming another flashcard.

As test day approached, I would become progressively less interested in the percentage of my deck marked “mature.” I would care about whether I could recognize and apply chemistry quickly in timed C/P passages.

What Reddit and r/Premed Say About the Best MCAT Chemistry Anki Deck

For this article, I searched Reddit, including r/premed, r/MCAT, and r/AnkiMCAT, and summarized the recurring chemistry-specific themes rather than relying on one viral recommendation. Detailed Anki discussions are actually much easier to find in r/MCAT and r/AnkiMCAT because r/premed directs Anki and MCAT-resource discussion toward the dedicated communities.

One of the most directly relevant threads asked which deck was best specifically for C/P, including General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. MileDown was described as sufficient by one responder, while another argued that practice questions were more important for Chem/Phys than adding more Anki.

Another 2026 discussion asking which deck was best for each MCAT section produced a more mixed picture. Some users favored AnKing for all sections, others preferred JackSparrow for deeper C/P understanding, and another commenter argued that AnKing or MileDown was more than enough for C/P while reserving JackSparrow for subjects where additional depth was needed.

Organic Chemistry discussions reveal another useful pattern. Students frequently recommend MileDown for recognizing important structures and terminology, but several people also emphasize making your own image-based or missed-question cards when a specific functional group or reaction repeatedly causes problems.

Across the broader deck discussions I reviewed, the same tradeoff appears repeatedly: MileDown and AnKing are valued for efficiency, while JackSparrow is valued for depth but creates a much heavier workload. Students with shorter timelines often steer toward MileDown or AnKing, while students several months from the exam are more willing to consider JackSparrow.

That is community experience rather than controlled evidence, so I would not use Reddit votes to declare one deck scientifically superior. I would use the discussions to understand how real students experience the workload and card formats, then let your own practice results tell you whether your chosen deck is covering enough chemistry.

What Student Doctor Network Says About MCAT Chemistry Anki Decks

I separately searched Student Doctor Network and summarized the relevant SDN discussion for this article because I did not want the community section to depend entirely on Reddit. The most directly relevant SDN thread I found was literally titled “GChem/OChem/Physics – MileDown or JackSparrow?”

The student who started the discussion had already been using JackSparrow and wanted to know whether its enormous number of cards was necessary for General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physics. A responder described JackSparrow as considerably more comprehensive and harder to complete while saying that MileDown still “gets the job done,” with the ultimate choice depending on personal preference and desired depth.

I think that is one of the more sensible ways to describe the chemistry decision. If two decks both contain the chemistry concepts you need, the larger deck is not automatically better. The value of additional detail depends on whether those cards correct a weakness or simply keep you away from questions longer.

What Medical School Admissions Officers Say About MCAT Chemistry and Anki

I specifically searched for medical school admissions officers and former admissions committee members discussing Anki, MCAT preparation, or chemistry preparation. I did not find a credible admissions officer saying that applicants should use AnKing, MileDown, JackSparrow, or any particular chemistry deck, so I would not pretend that such an endorsement exists.

What admissions sources do say is useful. In the AAMC’s article on how medical schools review applications, admissions officer Irene Tise explains that doing well on the MCAT provides evidence that an applicant can handle medical-school coursework. The same article describes how schools consider MCAT results alongside academic performance, experiences, personal qualities, and school-specific priorities rather than treating the score as the entire application.

I also reviewed a July 2026 MCAT strategy guide written by physician and former medical school admissions committee member Dr. Mario Tomei. His chemistry-relevant advice is that C/P requires both substantial content knowledge and reasoning, that students weak in the section should return to foundational chemistry content when necessary, and that Anki can be useful for spaced repetition while passage practice and official AAMC materials remain essential.

That is how I would apply admissions commentary to this decision. An admissions committee does not know whether equilibrium entered your brain through AnKing or MileDown. What eventually matters to your application is the academic result you produce and how the MCAT fits into the rest of your record.

Do not choose the deck that sounds most impressive. Choose the system that lets you actually learn chemistry well enough to perform.

What Is the Best MCAT Chemistry Anki Deck if Chemistry Is Your Weakest Subject?

If chemistry is your weakest subject because you genuinely do not understand much of the underlying material, I would lean toward JackSparrow or selectively use Aidan V2, with a structured chemistry content source alongside the cards. You need more explanation than someone who only forgets an occasional equation.

I would still resist trying to brute-force weakness by memorizing thousands of cards. If you do not understand equilibrium, electrochemistry, or nucleophilic reactions, seeing increasingly detailed answers in Anki may help somewhat, but a proper explanation followed by deliberate practice will usually give the cards far more meaning.

Chemistry was one of my own weaker areas when I began studying, and that experience is part of why I am cautious about telling students to solve every weakness by downloading more flashcards. My performance improved because chemistry became part of a larger system of content review, Anki, questions, full-lengths, and detailed review rather than because I discovered one perfect deck.

What Is the Best MCAT Chemistry Anki Deck if You Already Have a Strong Chemistry Background?

If General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry were strong courses for you and your practice results confirm that the foundation is still there, I would use MileDown or AnKing and move into questions aggressively. You probably do not need JackSparrow to reteach you what you already know.

Your Anki cards should prevent predictable memory losses: equations, periodic relationships, laboratory details, reaction patterns, nomenclature, units, and other information that should be retrievable quickly.

Your questions should handle the harder job of proving that you can use those facts in unfamiliar settings. That division of labor keeps chemistry review much more efficient.

What Is the Best MCAT Chemistry Anki Deck if You Have One Month?

With approximately one month remaining, I would not begin JackSparrow or Aidan V2 from the beginning. At this stage, MileDown, your existing AnKing collection, and cards targeted to mistakes make much more sense.

Your remaining time is too valuable to spend trying to achieve a satisfying completion percentage on a giant deck. C/P passage practice, official AAMC material, full-length review, weak-topic remediation, and maintaining the chemistry facts you repeatedly forget should consume most of your attention.

If you discover through questions that acids and bases are terrible but Organic Chemistry is fine, study acids and bases. Your final month should become increasingly individualized rather than increasingly comprehensive.

What Is the Best MCAT Chemistry Anki Deck if You Have Three to Six Months?

Three to six months gives you considerably more flexibility. AnKing becomes an excellent default because you can activate chemistry by topic while still having enough time for the cards to mature through repeated reviews.

JackSparrow also becomes realistic if your chemistry foundation is weak and you enjoy traditional recall. MileDown remains completely reasonable if you would rather put the time saved into additional practice.

Aidan V2 becomes more plausible toward the longer end of that range, although I would still use it selectively. Six months is a long MCAT schedule, but 12,000 cards can consume six months surprisingly quickly if you treat deck completion as the main objective.

Should You Use Anki for Chemistry Calculations?

Use Anki to remember the relationships behind calculations, not as your main source of calculation practice. Cards can make equations, units, logarithmic approximations, proportional relationships, scientific notation rules, and frequently used conversions easier to retrieve.

The arithmetic itself needs repetition in questions. Being able to recite an equilibrium expression is not the same as setting it up from a passage, and remembering the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation is not the same as recognizing what information the problem has actually given you.

I would pay particular attention to dimensional analysis because units can frequently help you reconstruct relationships or catch an incorrect calculation. If you understand the physical or chemical meaning behind the units, they become another reasoning tool rather than another list to memorize.

Should You Memorize Every Organic Chemistry Reaction for the MCAT?

I would not turn your MCAT preparation into a second undergraduate Organic Chemistry final. Learn the important functional groups, chemical relationships, reaction patterns, laboratory methods, and transformations represented in the AAMC content rather than collecting every obscure named reaction you can find online.

One Reddit discussion about MileDown’s Organic Chemistry section illustrates the anxiety this can create: a student wondered whether several unfamiliar molecules appearing in the deck were truly necessary because they had not encountered them in their primary review book. The responses generally emphasized that additional chemical familiarity can be useful without implying that every obscure structure deserves equal memorization priority.

When in doubt, I would keep the official AAMC content scope beside your study plan. The farther a piece of chemistry drifts from that scope and from anything appearing in your practice, the less willing I would be to devote substantial study time to it.

How Many Chemistry Anki Cards Should You Do Per Day?

There is no chemistry-specific number that works for everyone because your existing review burden matters much more than an arbitrary daily target. Introducing 100 new chemistry cards may feel productive today and become miserable a week later when those cards begin returning alongside everything you already learned.

I would start with a number that leaves enough time for actual chemistry questions and then adjust. If Anki is consuming several hours every day and UWorld keeps getting postponed until tomorrow, your new-card rate is probably too aggressive regardless of what somebody else’s study schedule says.

Completing your reviews consistently also matters more than occasionally completing a huge number of new cards. Spaced repetition only works as intended when the information is allowed to recur over time.

Should You Use More Than One MCAT Chemistry Anki Deck?

Usually no. AnKing, MileDown, JackSparrow, Aidan, Captain Hook, and Coffin overlap enough that completing two of them in full would create substantial redundancy.

I would rather see you use one primary deck and borrow cards from another only when you have identified a specific weakness. If MileDown works except for electrochemistry, find or create better electrochemistry cards. You do not need to adopt the other 6,000 cards just to improve one chapter.

This also helps avoid the resource-collection problem that makes MCAT studying feel productive without actually producing many completed questions. Every new deck creates another queue demanding your attention.

My Recommendation for the Best MCAT Anki Deck for Chemistry

If I were starting MCAT studying today, AnKing would be my default chemistry recommendation for most students. I like that it preserves much of the efficiency that made MileDown useful while adding modern organization, separate General and Organic Chemistry sections, broad resource tagging, and continuing community maintenance.

If I were already deep into MileDown and performing well, I would stay there. MileDown was my primary deck, and I still think its manageability is one of its greatest strengths.

If chemistry were one of my largest content weaknesses and I had four to six months or longer, I would compare JackSparrow with AnKing and pay close attention to which card style made me retrieve more effectively. I would also consider Aidan V2 selectively if I wanted substantially greater detail.

If my main problem were equations, functional groups, or one specific chemistry topic, I would not switch comprehensive decks at all. I would make or add targeted cards and spend the rest of that saved time solving chemistry problems.

The best MCAT chemistry Anki deck is ultimately the one that makes important knowledge easy to retrieve without taking so much time that you stop practicing chemistry. That balance matters much more than whether your deck contains 3,000 cards, 6,000 cards, or 12,000 cards.

More MCAT Anki Guides on AspiringMD

If you have not chosen your overall deck yet, start with my Best MCAT Anki Decks Compared guide and my complete MCAT hub and study guide. Those pages explain how Anki should fit around content review, question banks, CARS, full-length exams, and official AAMC practice rather than treating flashcards as a standalone preparation system.

For the individual decks discussed here, you can read my MileDown MCAT Anki Deck guide, JackSparrow MCAT Anki Deck guide, Latest AnKing MCAT Deck guide, Aidan V2 MCAT Anki Deck guide, Captain Hook MCAT Anki Deck guide, and Coffin V2 MCAT Anki Deck guide. I also maintain a free MCAT equation and formula sheet and a larger Free Premed and MCAT Resources hub if you want supporting resources without adding another full deck.

I would use those pages to solve specific problems rather than treating them as a checklist. The goal is not to become the premed who has downloaded every famous Anki deck; it is to become comfortable enough with chemistry that an unfamiliar C/P passage no longer makes you feel as though you have never seen the material before.
